Why I aim for the lowest dose that works
One of the kindest things a patient ever wrote about me was that I want people on the lowest doses of medication they can be on, as long as symptoms are controlled. That review meant a lot, because it captured exactly how I practice.
Medication can be life changing. It can also come with side effects, costs, and tradeoffs. My job is to help you get the benefit while carrying as little of the burden as possible. That usually means starting low, going slow, and talking often about how you actually feel.
Sometimes the right dose is higher than where we started, and that is okay too. The goal is never the smallest number on the bottle. The goal is you feeling clear, steady, and like yourself, with the fewest side effects we can manage.
This is always a conversation, never a lecture. If something does not feel right, we adjust. If you have questions about your medication, you deserve real answers in plain language. That is what your visits are for.
